Featured placement: one card, one layer, outside the ranking

Featured is one labelled card on one layer page, outside every ranked list, only on a layer you are listed in. Unsold, the slot is gone. It cannot move a rank.

The rule in one paragraph

Featured placement on infratoapp is one sponsored card in its own strip on one layer page, with a disclosure beside it, sitting outside every ranked list on that page. You can buy it only for a layer your product is listed in. One sponsor shows at a time, and when the slot is unsold it collapses to nothing. It does not change where any product ranks. It is a flat price per layer per month; pay-as-you-go is not on sale.

There are 10 layers, so in principle there are that many places a card could sit. In practice the number open to you is the number of layers your product is already in.

None of this replaces the listing. The card links out, and the product’s place in the ranked list below it is decided exactly as it would be with no card on the page.

Why only a layer you are in

A card about an inference engine on the page about vector databases would be an advert for something the reader did not come to compare. The rule keeps every card on a page about the kind of thing it sells.

For a layer you are not in, the route is to change your product’s layers first. That is a request, reviewed by a person, and it is judged on what the product is, not on a wish to advertise there. The card stops showing if the product later leaves that layer.

A product placed in a layer for the wrong reasons would put a card on a page where it does not belong, which is why a layer change is reviewed by a person instead of edited in the portal.

It also limits what a sponsor can claim. A card on its own layer page invites the comparison the reader is already making, and the facts for that comparison sit on the same page.

Where the card sits, physically and in the markup

The card sits in its own strip with its own heading, separate from the list. The advertising page lists every slot the site has and what each may never do, and for this one the constraint is that it cannot reorder the layer it sits on.

The structured data describes the ranked list as a list of products. The sponsored card is kept outside it, because a paid entry inside a machine-readable list of results would be described there as one of the results. Its link is tagged so the sponsor can see its own traffic, and it is coloured to read as sponsored, never in the red the site uses for verified facts.

Sponsor click-outs are one of four kinds of outbound link the advertising page describes. The card is paid for up front, so the click itself earns the site nothing; the only kind of link that pays per click is an affiliate link, marked as one. Evidence links, the pages figures are read from, stay untagged so a citation never looks like an advert.

For a reader, the list reads the same whether the slot is sold or not. The card is above it or absent, never inside it.

What you get, and how it is reported

You supply a headline, a few bullets and a link. The card is reviewed before it shows. After it is live, the vendor portal reports impressions, clicks and click-through for the card over the last thirty days, under Buyer intent.

The copy is short on purpose. A card has to be read as a sponsor at a glance, beside a list the reader came to read, and a long pitch belongs in a Pro Profile on the product page instead.

Those numbers follow the same floor as every other count: anything under 5 is withheld. They are indicative and are not used for billing, because you pay the flat price and not for clicks.

There is no auction. One sponsor per slot, one published price, cancellable at the end of any month. The Ads page has the steps, and the price is on the pricing page.

What is not on sale

Pay-as-you-go, meaning paying for what a card does instead of a flat month, is planned and has no price. It needs protection against fake clicks and a way to bill by use, and it will not open before both exist. You can say you want it; we record who asked and promise no date.

A row inside a ranked list is not on sale at any price. Neither is a card on a layer you are not in, nor a sponsor placed between two products a reader is comparing. The same limits apply to the other paid products, as the post on what Pro Profile does not buy sets out.

Sponsorship elsewhere on the site has the same shape. The advertising page lists each slot, and none of them sits between two products being compared or over a price.

Choosing which layer to buy

A product listed in more than one layer makes each layer a separate purchase at its own flat monthly price, and each card shows only on its own layer page. Pick the layer where the comparison you care about happens, not the one that sounds largest.

Layer sizes are public. The inference layer lists 186 live products and the compute layer 108, and each count is a rough guide to how crowded the page around your card will be. We publish no traffic figures per layer, so the choice rests on where your buyers start looking, which you know better than we do.

The Intelligence plan shows which products buyers compare yours with. Where those products sit mostly in one layer, that is where readers already place you, which is evidence this site can give you for the choice.

What we could not answer

  • ⚑We hold no data on how a Featured card performs against an unsponsored listing, so this post makes no claim about results.
  • ⚑The review criteria for card copy are not published beyond the rules on the Ads page.

Questions people ask about this

What is a Featured card on infratoapp?

A single sponsored card in its own labelled strip on one layer page, outside the ranked list on that page. Only one sponsor shows per slot, it is sold at a flat monthly price per layer, and it has no effect on where any product ranks.

Can I buy a Featured card on any layer page?

No. A Featured card can only sit on a layer the product is already listed in. A vendor who wants a different layer first asks for the product’s layers to change, which a person reviews on the merits of what the product is.

Is Featured placement sold per click?

No. It is a flat price per layer per month, cancellable at the end of any month. Pay-as-you-go is planned but not on sale and has no price, because it first needs protection against fake clicks and a way to bill by use.
