Integrations: APIs & Connected Workflows

Integrations: APIs and Connected Workflows is the second course in the n8n Foundations programme. It teaches workflow control and connecting n8n to external services with the HTTP Request node, webhooks and API authentication. n8n calls it the most technically dense course in the programme.

Who it suits

  • People who can already build workflows and understand how data flows through nodes.
  • Builders who want to connect n8n to almost any service with an API.

What it covers

  • Execution order across sequential and parallel paths, sub-workflows, and logic with IF, Switch, Loop Over Items and Wait.
  • Error handling with the Error Trigger and Stop and Error nodes.
  • Reshaping data with Merge, Split Out, Aggregate, Filter and Summarize, and custom code in JavaScript or Python.
  • The HTTP Request node, API authentication with API keys, OAuth2 and Bearer tokens, and pagination.
  • Webhooks, secure credentials and Data Tables.

Before you start

  • An n8n instance, either n8n Cloud (n8n lists a free trial) or self-hosted, publicly reachable.
  • n8n says exercises use practice APIs hosted by the n8n Academy, so no external accounts are needed.
